During their December meeting, the Captain’s Key DD Board discussed the possibility of adding a vehicle bar code scanner for front gate access, and is requesting feedback from the community.  This discussion was prompted by recent issues with the transponder system, as well as the need to periodically replace transponders, which is an expense to the District and an inconvenience to residents.  The bar code system would be in addition to the existing transponders, so residents will still have the option to utilize the transponder system, but the District would no longer exchange non-functioning transponders free of charge.

The scanner would be installed on the right side of the entrance, with 3.7″ x 2.5″ bar codes affixed to the passenger side window of residents’ cars, which would be scanned as the car passes.
